Letter from George Emerson to Alden Partridge, 18 February 1853
George F. Emerson (George Washington Franklin Emerson?) writes from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Alden Partridge in Norwich, Vermont; he would like a letter of recommendation for Richard McAllister (the brother of one of Partridge's former students) who wishes to be named governor of Minnesota territory; would also like a letter of recommendation for himself. The letter appears to refer to Richard Beale McAllister (1819-1887) who was appointed as a fugitive slave commissioner for Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1850. ; Transcription by Joseph Byrne.
